Acknowledging The Lizard;
This is the part of our mind that causes us to stay on the "safe side". We don't want to take chances because of the fear of being made fun of or ridiculed.

Be Generous;
This is explaining that we need to give more, not physical gifts or money, but to help one another out.

Make Art;
We need to make more art and take more risks. Art has no rules or instructions, which leaves a huge margin for error.

These exercises are a waste of my time. I don't believe these layers or even the blogs are helping me become a better artist or student. I feel as though they are just a stupid form of homework. I haven't put much energy into these exercises. I even procrastinated until the last day before they're due. I feel as though I could be creating art, or practicing becoming a better student, rather than just reading and summarizing. Instead of summarizing these layers, we should be doing hands on exercises to practice the creative process. With these blogs, we are just following guild lines and not putting our full potential into it. We are creating mediocre work, just for a letter grade. Didn't we read about how that was bad? Following what teachers are telling us to do. I feel as though these blogs are holding me back from being creative. Why can't I just create something to show my grasp for the creative process? Each person is different, we all learn differently. So why should we all be taught the same? This is why half of us will drop out and get a 9-5 job with a suit and tie, sitting in a cubicle, contemplating suicide. All because of these blogs and assignments alike, that waste our time, students don't complete and keep people held back. We should be showing what we can do, what potential is hiding within the student. Not if the said student can recall a multiple choice answer or write a groundbreaking essay. We rely on too much on the normal grading systems to tell us if the student is competent or talented. Its fucked up. I have always had trouble throughout school because I didn't care to do the assignments; they were a waste of my time. I thought college would be different. A time where I could show how great I can be, but I'm hindered by these stupid assignments I have to complete to show I can memorize answers and recall them on tests. Im paying over $20,000 this year to waste my time on blogs and not learning to become a better musician. I should be creating music, learning to record music. Working towards my goal to own a record studio. I feel as though, schooling will always be the same and many great talented people will go to waste.
